Itinerary

Day 1: Ha Giang – Dong Van (150 km – 5 hours riding)
Day 1: Ha Giang – Dong Van (150 km – 5 hours riding)

Easy Riders Vietnam Team will meet and pick you up at your hotel/hostel in Ha Giang at 08:30 am and start our exciting 4-day Ha Giang Loop Easy Rider Tour.

We leave Ha Giang and traverse through the rustic villages of Tay hill tribes where you broaden your knowledge about daily life and cultures. The drive leads us to the picturesque Bac Sum Pass and Heaven Gate where you will be amazed by the spectacular panoramic views of the Twins Mountains and Tam Son Town.

After having lunch at Yen Minh Town, we continue our day by meandering along the laneway to get to Tham Ma Pass and Chin Khoang Passes (9-turn Pass). Today’s ride is like a dream comes true for adventure lovers: the amazing landscape of Dong Van Karst Plateau (a UNESCO Global Geo-Park in 2011), a great motorcycle ride along limestone rock mountains, and the authentic life of the locals. H’Mong King Palace is well worth paying a visit to before riding to Dong Van Town, check-in, and staying overnight

Day 2: Dong Van – Meo Vac (140 km – 5 hours riding)
Day 2: Dong Van – Meo Vac (140 km – 5 hours riding)

Waking up in the fresh air of the mountain town, we enjoy breakfast at our hotel before jumping back on our motorcycles. The morning’s drive takes us to the North Pole, Lung Cu through scenic mountain passes, to the Flag Tower (the northernmost part of Vietnam), and is 2 km away from the border with China. We take in the spectacular views of Vietnam and China on the other side.

We continue our enjoyable day by riding to the most “jaw-dropping” mountain pass in Vietnam, Ma Pi Leng (considered as the most magnificent pass in the world!?). When we reach the highest peak of the pass, words can’t describe how amazing it is! It's just like a dream adventure for amateur and professional photographers alike!

We arrive at our hotel, in the middle of the Rock Plateau – the little town of Meo Vac, around 05:00 pm, check in, and stay overnight.

Day 3: Meo Vac – Du Gia Village (110 km - 4 hours riding)
Day 3: Meo Vac – Du Gia Village (110 km - 4 hours riding)

After breakfast, we jump back on the bikes and follow some of the most spectacular yet peaceful roads in Ha Giang. With sheer limestone cliffs rising dramatically around us and hardly another traveler in sight, it feels like riding through another world. The landscape here is rugged and raw, dotted with sharp limestone peaks and tiny villages where locals make a living in this challenging environment.

A highlight of the morning is a serene boat trip on the emerald-green Nho Que River, drifting between towering cliffs — a view you’ll never forget.

By noon, we return to Meo Vac town for a tasty local lunch before continuing the adventure. The ride to Du Gia takes us past spectacular viewpoints, perfect for photo stops and soaking in the scenery.

In the late afternoon, we roll into Du Gia Village, a charming little valley surrounded by rice fields. Tonight, we stay at a cozy local homestay where you’ll be welcomed like family. After a home-cooked dinner, relax and enjoy the peaceful mountain vibes.

FAQs

1. Do I need a motorbike license to join the Ha Giang Loop tour?
If you want to ride by yourself, yes, you’ll need a valid motorbike license that’s accepted in Vietnam (an International Driving Permit with the correct endorsement usually works).

But don’t worry - if you don’t have a license or don’t feel comfortable riding, you can hop on the back with our experienced Easy Rider guides. It’s safe, fun, and you still get the full adventure!
2. How difficult is the Ha Giang Loop to ride?
The roads can be narrow, winding, and sometimes steep, so it can be challenging for beginners. If you’re not an experienced rider, we recommend going with our tour guide (either riding your own bike while they lead, or sitting pillion). With an Easy Rider, you can relax and enjoy the views while we handle the tricky parts.
3. What should I pack for the tour?
We suggest bringing:

- Comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes

- A warm jacket (it can get chilly in the mountains, even in summer)

- Swimwear (for waterfalls and rivers)

- Sunscreen, sunglasses, and insect repellent

- A small backpack for daily essentials

Don’t worry about your big luggage - we can arrange safe storage in Ha Giang City.
4. What’s the accommodation like on the Loop?
You’ll get a mix of cozy homestays with local families and hotels along the route. It’s all part of the adventure! Staying with locals gives you a real taste of life in the mountains - and trust us, the home-cooked meals are amazing.
5. What’s the food like during the trip?
You’ll enjoy authentic Vietnamese meals - think fresh vegetables, fragrant herbs, rice, noodles, and delicious local specialties. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, just let us know in advance.
6. When is the best time to do the Ha Giang Loop?
The loop is beautiful year-round:

- September – November: cool weather, harvest season with golden rice terraces.

- March – May: warm, sunny days and blooming flowers.

- December – February: colder but clear skies (pack warm clothes!).

Each season has its own charm, so there’s really no “bad” time to go.
7. Is the Ha Giang Loop safe?
Yes! Safety is our top priority. Our guides are highly experienced, the bikes are well-maintained, and we take frequent breaks to rest and enjoy the views. As long as you follow your guide’s instructions, you’ll be in good hands.
8. How many days do I need for the Ha Giang Loop?
Most travelers do it in 3 to 5 days, depending on your schedule. A 3-day tour is the minimum to enjoy the highlights, while 4 or 5 days gives you a more relaxed pace with time for hidden gems like Du Gia Village or waterfalls.

Ha Giang Loop is so interesting to explore!
9. Can I do the Loop if I’ve never ridden a motorbike before?
If you’re new to riding, we strongly recommend going with an Easy Rider (sitting on the back). You’ll still get the thrill of the ride without the stress. If you’re determined to ride yourself, practice beforehand and let us know - we’ll give extra guidance.
10. How much does the Ha Giang Loop tour cost?
Prices vary depending on group size, number of days, and whether you ride yourself or go with an Easy Rider. Generally, it covers your bike, fuel, guide, and accommodation - so almost everything is included. Just bring some pocket money for food, drinks, and personal expenses.
